As last year, each day of the week offers us an opportunity
to consider a different stage or phase of human development. As the weeks go by
this pattern will develop into a cycle of human being from begnning to ending
and round again. This year the week begins with Monday as day one, and ends
with Sunday as day seven when we are invited to 'celebrate'.
Read: a
number of bible readings are suggested for each day.
Think: about how this bible reading relates to the experience of
life for the world's poor, for example those who are living in the heavily
indebted countries which feature in the book, at this particular stage in their
lives.
Pray: two alternative prayers are offfered.
Link: some of the other material in the book which links to the
theme are given.
There are many ways of reflecting of the theme for the day and those listed
are not meant to suggest them all, or all be done everyday. You might like to
collect images relevant to each life style during in the year and use these from
time to time in a worship centre or quiet space. Information about Jubilee 2000
is available from www.jubilee2000uk.org.
The Jubilee Gloria could be used as a closing prayer for any day:
Jubilee
Gloria
Glory to the Holy One, God of Jubilee:
dancing through the cosmos,
a partnership of three;
Creator, Son and Spirit, bringing all to be;
glory, glory, glory, God of Jubilee.
